A traineeship means you learn practical skills with an employer as well as formal learning with RETS and get a nationally recognised qualification you can use anywhere. You may not have much experience when you start a traineeship, but will learn skills that will set you up for life.

Apprenticeships and traineeships are available to anyone of working age, and most can be done full-time or part-time. As a part of your traineeship, you’ll sign a training contract with your employer to work and learn under their supervision. Training Services NSW administers these contracts. Your contract also includes training through a RETS.  

 RETS guides you through the course with a Training Plan, student support, learning resources and assessments. Learning takes place on-the-job as you go about your day-to-day activities, with guidance from your employer and other employees. RETS assesses you regularly using competency-based assessment – you are ‘Competent’ or ‘Not-Yet-Competent’ at completing a task. If you are Not-Yet-Competent, you will have the opportunity to be reassessed at a later date.

The Certificate IV course is for sales people, property managers, commercial agents, buyers agent and auctioneers. To successfully complete this Certificate IV qualifications, you must demonstrate competency in 5 core units and 13 elective units (total of 18 units). This course meets the qualification requirements for the Real Estate Agents Class 2 licence. Please note you are able to choose one stream dependant on what you hope to achieve
