CPD – Real Estate – ACT
Registered and Licenced agents must obtain 12 CPD points each year, prior to the renewal of their licence or registration.
RETS has packaged the course/s separately - 8 CPD points and 4 CPD points and as 12 CPD point course.

8 CPD points
For the 8 CPD points; the requirement is - the course must be one or more units of competency which contribute to a recognised qualification or learning pathway relevant to the property industry.
- CPPREP4004 Establish marketing and communication profiles in real estate (ACT) 8 CPD points
Access Canberra mandate that all CPD must be completed prior to the renewal date of your registration or licence.
4 CPD points
For the 4 CPD points; the requirements is - points for continuing professional development shall be calculated at the rate of one point per hour of the activity.
- Understanding Basic Building Terminology and Faults (1 CPD points/1 hour)
This CPD course covers understanding common building terms and identifying some of the most common building faults that agents come across during agency practice. - Cyber Security (1 CPD points/1 hour)
This topic involves understanding best practice cyber security and ways to identify and reduce the risk of fraudulent activity. - Privacy (1 CPD points/1 hour)
The objective of this topic is to provide an understanding of the privacy principles for property agents including the collection and use of identity information, specifically contained in the Privacy Act 1988. - Dealing with Difficult Situations (1 CPD points/1 hour)
This topic covers dealing with difficult clients in a residential real estate environment. So much of what real estate agents do involves a high level of communicating- asking the right questions to assess client needs, answering questions to give clients information, presenting information and putting forward a persuasive case, facilitating meetings, negotiating and resolving conflict.
Together these courses cover the 12 CPD point requirements.
ACT CPD requirements are:
For both a real estate agent's licence and a real estate salesperson's registration - to complete 12 CPD points in the 12month period prior to the renewal of their licence or registration
For Licence renewals - the CPD must be completed between 1st July and 30th June of the renewal year
For Registration renewals - the CPD must be completed between 1st November and 31st October of the renewal year

To fulfill this requirement, it is up to you to successfully complete by this date. RETS suggest you complete prior to this date in case you need to resubmit or redo any aspect of the assessment.
Remember - it is your responsibility to understand your requirements for CPD.

You can enrol, pay, complete the course 24 hours a day, seven days a week - complete the course when it suits you. If you need it you also have access to the RETS tutor through the RETS eCampus
