Ongoing Professional Development for Queensland Property Professionals

From 6 June 2025, continuing professional development (CPD) will become mandatory for property professionals in Queensland.

Who is Exempt

You are not required to complete CPD if:

• Your licence was first issued less than 12 months ago — CPD becomes mandatory 12 months after your initial licence issue date.

• Your licence was inactive for the majority of your CPD year.

• You hold a limited real estate agent licence for affordable housing or business letting.

• You are employed by a public sector agency or are an official licensee under the Property Occupations Act 2014.

Exceptional Circumstances
You may apply for an exemption for a particular year if you are unable to complete CPD due to exceptional circumstances. Your application to renew or restore your licence must include evidence supporting your claim.

Note: Exceptional circumstances must be both unforeseeable and unavoidable. Poor planning or time management is not considered a valid reason for exemption.

More detailed guidance on what qualifies as exceptional circumstances will be provided before the CPD requirement takes effect.

Understanding Your CPD Year
Your CPD year is individual and starts on the anniversary of your licence or registration issue date.

CPD completed before your first CPD year officially begins will not count towards your annual CPD requirement.
