A Class 1 licence holder must obtain 9 hours of CPD annually in a CPD renewal year - 3 compulsory hours,  3 elective hours and 3 business hours.  This must be completed prior to March 22 each year. RETS is approved, by NSW Fair Trading, to  deliver compulsory CPD.

The following compulsory courses are available:

COMPULSORY TOPIC - must complete 3 hours

CPD Compulsory Topic  - COVID Safe Business (1 hour) 
The objective of this topic is to provide an overview of how to ensure property industry workplaces are COVID Safe. Content delivered through this course will reflect relevant  COVID-19 workplace health and safety guidelines published by SafeWork Australia


CPD Compulsory Topic  - Cyber Security & Fraudulent Activity
This topic involves understanding best practice cyber security and ways to identify and reduce the risk of fraudulent activity.  


CPD Compulsory Topic  - Industry Contracts (1 hour)
This topic provides an overview of a licence holder’s obligations when it comes to reading, interpreting and completing contracts that are specific to their industry and line of work.


CPD Compulsory Topic  – Privacy (1 hour)

The objective of this topic is to provide an understanding of the privacy principles for property, stock and station agents including the collection and use of identity information, specifically contained in the Privacy Act 1988.


CPD Compulsory Topic  – Underquoting (1 hour)

This topic involves understanding agent responsibilities for marketing a property for sale including revising the estimated selling price and advertising obligations. 


CPD Topic   - Disclosure of Material Facts (1 hour)
The objective of this topic is to provide an overview of the legally required disclosure requirements for licensed agents under the Property and Stock Agents Act 2002 (the Act), with a particular focus on material facts.

CPD Compulsory Topic  - Short-term Rental Accommodation Code of Conduct (1 hour)

The objective of this topic is to provide an overview of the Short-term Rental Accommodation Code of Conduct (the STRA Code) which commenced on 18 December 2020.

ELECTIVE TOPICS - must complete 3 hours

Understanding Basic Building Terminology and Faults (1 hour)
This CPD course covers understanding common building terms and identifying some of the most common building faults that agents come across during agency practice.

Dealing with difficult clients in the real estate sector (1 hour)
This CPD course covers dealing with difficult clients in a real estatea environment. So much of what agents do involves a high level of communicating- asking the right questions to assess client needs, answering questions to give clients information, presenting information and putting forward a persuasive case and resolving conflict. This CPD course focuses on strategies to assist agents in dealing with difficult clients and issues.

Recent legal real estate case studies and lessons learnt (1 hour)
This CPD course looks at recent legal cases that impact on the property industry and understanding how and where to find out more information.

Recent estate reforms (1 hour)
This unit reviews changes in NSW agency legislation and practice that commenced on 23rd March 2020 - these are the biggest changes to come along for the property industry since the commencement of the Property Stock and Business Agents Act in 2002.

Risk Management in real estate (1 hour)
This topic involves understanding agent responsibilities to respond to and mitigate risks for occupants and managing risks that may arise within the property industry.

This CPD course covers dealing with difficult clients in a residential real estate environment. Sustainability in Commercial Property (3 hours)
Recently, attention has been focussed on issues related to sustainable practices in the built environment, such as in the design, construction and use of building materials in property development projects and their ongoing sales / leasing and management. Property agents have an important role to play in sustainability and this CPD course outlines some of the key concepts and issues.

Pitfalls and Challenges of Commercial Property (3 hours)
Commercial leasing and property management can be a very complicated area and a risk laden minefield for the inexperienced. This CPD course looks at the common challenges and pitfalls of commercial leasing and management.

Art of a Successful and Compliant Auction (3 hours)
This unit takes a look at compliance requirements around conducting an auction in NSW, from the preliminary stages through to after the auction.

Present at Hearings (3 hours)
Preparing to present at a hearing can be daunting, even for those who have done it before. This units has a look at preparing a case for a hearing through to completing the hearing process. 

Introduction to Commercial Real Estate (3 hours)
The world of commercial real estate differs significantly to the world of residential property. This unit looks at the basics of commercial property and takes you through the language and terminology that you may encounter.

Introduction to Strata  (3 hours)
This unit looks at untangling some of the concepts of strata for those who are new to its world. Gives an overview of 'who's who'  and who does what in the strata management environment.

BUSINESS TOPIC - must complete 3 hours

CPD Business Topic - Using inclusive work practices

NSW Fair Trading mandate that all CPD must be completed by 22nd March 2023. To fulfill this requirement it is up to you to successfully complete by this date. RETS suggested you complete prior to this date in case you need to resubmit or redo any aspect of the assessment.

Remember - it is your responsibility to understand your requirements for CPD.
