Since 2016 there has been discussion in the property industry around reforms to the educational requirements for agents. It was originally communicated by NSW Fair Trading that changes to CPD requirements would begin in July 2018, and other changes would flow on after that date. However, these changes have not commenced yet as planned.
The real estate sector attracts a very diverse range of people. One of the sectors we have considerable interest from are tradies – plumbers, builders, electricians, painters etc.
NSW Fair Trading are the regulatory authority for real estate in NSW. As such, they have the authority to audit real estate businesses on the spot.
In 2018 there was much conversation regarding changes to Continued Professional Development (CPD) requirements for NSW Real Estate Agents.
Although reporting on this topic has reduced within the real estate media; as a training organisation we are keeping abreast of what is going on.
Many people already know what sales representatives do in a real estate agency. Sometimes, however, they are not so familiar with what a property manager is, and what they do.
The law is changing. New domestic violence provisions in the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 commence on February 28 2019. Tenants who are proven survivors of domestic violence will be able to end their tenancy early without compensation. Other important rules apply that impact on co-tenants. You will also need to tread very carefully with privacy provisions and how you provide references for these tenants.
